Academic Resources

ASC (Academic Success Class) is a 5-credit academic elective (shown as "study skills" on transcripts) designed to provide students subject-specific support. A+ Angels Mentor Program is one of the ASC classes.

A+ Angels math tutoring for current math assignments is available every Tuesday in the A+ Angels class.

Study Tables meet from 4 to 5 p.m. in the library (3rd floor) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students can drop in to get one-on-one help from a Math, Spanish, Science, English or Social Studies teacher, or to work on homework. The teacher will not necessarily be your student's, but can help with most any assignment.

Teacher Tutorials. Tutorials are available in every classroom on Thursday from 3:30-4:00 p.m. (the last class period). During a tutorial, a student meets one-on-one with a teacher to get an assignment explained, make up a test or check in about grades.

Summer School. Students who fail a core class may take one class during summer school to recover their grade. For more information, see Aimee. A+ Angels covers the cost for A+ Angels students.

TRIO Upward Bound. Qualified freshmen and sophomores may benefit from the TRIO Upward Bound program at Metro State University. This program provides supplemental academic support in a the core subjects. In addition to financial benefits, students attend class on this urban campus, which can boost self-esteem and offer a preview to college life.

SAT prep for juniors and seniors is offered during the A+ Angels class, beginning in February.
